"Although we know that the buildings, sidewalks, and sky continue beyond the edges of the urban landscape, the world of the photograph is contained within the frame. It is not a fragment of a larger world."  1. I somewhat agree with this statement, the first half tells me that we know that a picture can only tell so much. It is not a 360 degree view of the world. It is not panoramic and it is not VR. The last sentence is what i disagree with. "It is not a fragment of a larger world." A picture is bits and pieces of a larger world. For the assignment 6 I had the idea to take pictures of many famous building sin Montreal and when i put it all together, I can create the whole Montreal or downtown for what I know.  2. I Chose photography to make people happy, i grew up with a small amount of pictures and videos of my childhood and ever since i was young (i mean i am young but younger) i always asked my parents for videos like VHS of cassettes but they said they dont rea...

Assignment 6

Image
I love this picture, the only thing I'll change would be the highlight at the top of the building. It's too bright and I lost some detail in that section.  This is my first time taking architecture and I loved it.  I love the colours in the first photograph and the clear blue sky. For the Ferris Wheel, I wish I made more room on the top so it doesn't look so tight. Montreal😍 I love the blue sky. It looks like a painting or the background for CTV news Pretty Cool i guess SuRe🥴

Elsa Dorfman – The B-Sides

Image
Elsa Dorfman is a very talented and creative portrait photographer. She is well known for using the    Polaroid   20 by 24-inch camera, actually, one of the 6 that existed.  After a few google searches, I learned that B-side defines having art pieces that you (the artist) loves but will not show to the audience. It's like personal work. Throughout the documentary, Elsa shows us many pictures that were never shown before. That is why this film is called "The B-Side" Other than her using a big polaroid, I feel like her portraitures are not the same as what we as young and new aged photographers would imagine. I feel like there's a vintage vibe to it or a cozy feeling to all her pictures. Her pictures really represent who she is as a person. She makes people look comfortable in the pictures. She didn't think what others may say about her photographs she just went with what she wants. Yes, I strongly feel like photography lets her express herself. Like I said in t...

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

I get most of my ideas from the internet. I use Pinterest as a great source to find ideas. I create mood boards on my account to get ideas from. I obviously don't copy the picture, but I inspire myself with the mood and composition. Even though I try to take a picture exactly like the picture I saw, there's always a difference and it never turns out the way I wanted it to be but it actually turns out better cause it's my style.  I also get ideas from my friends, I have very creative friends and they also have ideas so I write down what they are talking about and I try to recreate it as a picture. but that's pretty rare. I seem to prefer portraiture a lot more, and I always seemed to look at people's faces a bit longer than usual...but yeah it can help a lot. Also, when I go out, and I see a nice view, I imagine that object in different angles and see which one fits best. and I can capture pictures mentally.  I also look at pictures on the internet. I have an account...

GUEST SPEAKER

Image
Ruth Aibangbe Name of the speaker: Jocelyn Michel How you describe this person? (ie…spontaneous, intuitive, engaging, researched, dark, moody…) The way he described himself, to the way he talks and acts around people when it was time to shoot, he is very spontaneous and always has an idea in mind to make the project way better than it should have been. Describe a moment in his presentation that stood out for you and explain why? I noticed that he has his own style in photography, he doesn't compare himself to others. Maybe he doesn't look on the internet for ideas. While I look quite often on the internet for ideas and maybe my ideas aren't as original and people won't notice that it's my style of photography. What is the genre/discipline that is associated with his style of photography (advertising, documentary, news)? Advertising/portraiture Was he engaging and why? Yes, most of his stories we very interesting to how he got to this amazing picture. He made us thi...

Moods in a Song

My musical style always varied throughout my years of teenage years. Many would say that I have many moods in one. I may be happy one second, anxious the next, sad or quiet in the span of 5 minutes. As for music, I believe that my genre would be categories as Gospel music. Gospel means the good news. The news that Jesus came on earth for us. When you hear the word Gospel, we usually think about black people at church singing, however, there are many other ways of spreading the good news. I bet you never heard of Christion Rap, Christian R&B or Worship. For example, I can get into 5 songs at the same time, multiple different moods and that's what I love about myself. This means that I can change my personality depending on who I am with. A few months ago I read that people who listen to different genres can have conversations and make contact with almost anyone because of the music they listen to. Here are a few songs that I've been listening to in just 20 minutes. And like ...
